Caribbean Sea Panels

While on vacation with my family on a cruise ship in the Eastern Caribbean, I was sitting on the deck sketching for my next painting series. Gazing out towards the horizon off in the distance I saw the azure colored sea and tropical volcanic islands with warm, soft, yellow sand, juxtaposed against the cool jewel toned tropical waters.

The turquoise aqua colored waters and the glistening sunrays from the golden sky caused a visual painterly distortion. I envisioned an abstract collage view of warm versus cool tones, with a distinct horizon separating the composition.

Incorporating brilliant gold leaf throughout the painting achieves equatorial sunlight reflection in the painting. Visually balancing the lower and upper sections of the paintings are deep cool jewel toned areas. As an avid under water diver and fisherman these are the electric colors of the aquatic landscape.
